Biografie
Den Master of Fine Arts erhielt Karima Klasen 2008 an der School of Visual Arts der Boston University (USA) und den Bachelor of Arts in interdisziplinärer Gestaltung 2006 an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Hall. Von 2006-2009 lebte Karima Klasen als Fulbright Stipendiatin in Boston, New York und Santa Fe. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in Amerika, Deutschland, Schweden, Litauen, Belgien, Portugal, Rumänien, Italien, Zypern und Österreich ausgestellt. Zu ihren bisherigen Auszeichnungen gehören der Wettbewerbsgewinn ‚Urban Senses’ der Stadt Ludwigsburg (2021), Projektförderungen der Stadt Stuttgart (2018–2024), der Nordic Summer University (2020), des Kunstfestivals Begehungen Chemnitz (2019), der Abt-Straubinger-Stiftung (2018), ein Projektstipendium des Institutes für Auslandsbeziehungen ifa (2015), das Atelierstipendium des Künstlerhauses Eckernförde (2014), des Künstlerhauses Stuttgart (2011-2012), ein Joan Mitchell Grant (2008), ein Fulbright Stipendium (2006-2009), ein Max Kade Foundation Grant (2007) und ein Stipendium der Robert-Bosch-Stiftung (2006-2008).

Seit 2009 arbeitet Karima Klasen im öffentlichen Raum. Das urbane Feld ist ihr Medium und Handlungsraum, für Praxis, Vermittlung, künstlerische Forschung und Interventionen.


Biography
Klasen graduated in 2008 with a MFA in Painting from Boston University, after receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Design in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany in 2006. From 2006-2009 Karima Klasen was a Fulbright Fellow and lived in Boston, New York and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her work has been exhibited in the US, Germany, Sweden, Lithuania, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Cyprus and Austria. Her awards include a winning proposal at the Urban Senses Competition (2021) of the City of Ludwigsburg, project grants from the City of Stuttgart (2018-2024), an artistic research grant from the Nordic Summer University (2020), a grant from the Art Festivial Begehungen Chemnitz (2019), a grant from the Abt-Straubinger Foundation Stuttgart (2018), the Institute of Foreign Exchange Ifa, Stuttgart (2015), a Studio Fellowship at the Kuenstlerhaus Eckernfoerde (2014) and the Kuenstlerhaus Stuttgart (2011-2012), a Fulbright Fellowship (2006-2009), a Stipend from the Robert-Bosch-Foundation , (2006-2008), a Residency Grant at the Santa Fe Art Institute from the Joan Mitchell Foundation (2008) and a Grant from the Max Kade Foundation, New York (2007-2008).

Since 2009 Karima Klasen has been working in Germany on a variety of collaborative projects in urban space. Urban space as medium and the artistic transformation of places are interests which continue to deepen and expand her practice.
